Description Summary:
Woven basket with handle using a traditional Murray Valley technique.
Dimension:
255mm long at top,204 mm wide at top, approx 210mm high at top of handle, 138 mm high at highest side, handle approx 36 mm wide.
History:
Basket was one of a set of 4 or 5 items created by women living at Moonahcullah in the early 1900's for and gifted to the Eastman family at Old Morago Station. Other items included a larger basket and a laundry basket with a lid. The set was donated to the Deniliquin and District Historical Museum. This item was given to Sylvia Baker by Ms Eastman. Sylvia Baker donated the basket to Yarkuwa Museum. When gifted basket contained sewing needles threaded into weaving on handle.
