Word Detail
Mayo
Over There, Very Far Away
Part of speech:
(PN) (ADV)
Sources:
Notes:
demonstrative pronoun and adverb of middle distance (Editor: The two English meanings above, from the different dictionary versions, Wembawemba-English (W-E) & English-Wembaweba (E-W) and Hercus's note of 'adverb of middle distance' indicate a possible conflict in meanings. The E-W version gives 'very far away' and infers that 'mayo' may be the furtherest in a progression but the W-E entry suggests that 'mayo' means 'over there in the middle distance'. See also Editorial note for 'malu'.)
