The word 'wurl-wurl' was known to recent Wembawemba speakers as meaning 'blue sky', but the normal word for '(his) arm' wastathakuk, and cognate forms were heard in Werkaya and Mathimathi. 'tar-ruck' however is attested for Djadjawurrung by Parker (Smyth 1878 II:163, and is well known from other more southerly Kulin languges (Blake 1991:83). This compound was therefore probably a borrowing from Djadjawurrung.
